I was persuaded to try karate back when I was a teenager and I was hooked from the outset. I was lucky to have trained under the late Roger Sayce who was a massive inspiration to me as he was to many.
I had a long break in training having moved away and started a family but when I moved back to Aberystwyth I decided that now might be the time to get back into karate.
My first session back was brilliant, I was surprised how much I remembered after all that time, I thoroughly enjoyed it and threw myself back into training with a vengeance and have now reached the grade of 3rd dan.
I've competed and medalled in numerous KUGB national and regional championships and was a member of the Welsh squad for a number of years and competed in grand slam events (between Wales, England, Scotland and Northern Ireland) and am proud to now have my son training on the junior welsh squad himself.
I'm incredibly privileged to be able to teach at Tekki and enjoy seeing students develop both mentally and physically as they progress through the grades. Karate most definitely engages your mind as well as your body!
Tekki has incredibly high standards of karate thanks to our senior instructors who pass on their wealth of knowledge, and I am very honoured to be part of such a fantastic club
